Building on the experience of running Orchestra ONE… the Orchestra of New Experiences, Kent Music is now working with Open Orchestras to further increase music making opportunities for young people with SEND.
Open Orchestras is behind the largest community of inclusive youth ensembles in the UK. It supports Music Education Hubs and special schools to set up and run school orchestras that are accessible to young disabled students, including those with PMLD. For many, this will be their first opportunity to learn an instrument, play independently and expressively, be part of a band and perform - with all the learning, pride, fun and friendships this can bring! Open Orchestras comes with award-winning training and musical resources including Clarion, an innovative digital instrument that can be played with any part of the body including eye movement, and music in building blocks that each orchestra can arrange creatively.
